The rest of this page is the detailed version, and it says the same thing at greater length because privacy law requires the specifics.

Analytics

With your consent, this site uses Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) to understand which pages people use. Where analytics is enabled, Google receives:

• Your IP address — used by Google to approximate your country or city, then discarded. Google applies IP anonymisation to Analytics 4 traffic.
• Device and browser information — screen size, browser name and version, operating system, and language.
• Page activity — which pages you viewed, in what order, when, and which site (if any) referred you.
• A randomly generated identifier stored in a cookie, used to recognise repeat visits.

Under the GDPR, an IP address and a cookie identifier count as personal data even though they don't include your name. That is why this page exists and why the consent banner appears.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like every web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details in order to deliver the page to you and to protect the site from attack and abuse. This happens for every visitor and cannot be switched off — without it, the page cannot physically reach you. These logs are short-lived and we do not use them for analytics or profiling.

Things we deliberately do not collect

• No accounts, logins, or passwords
• No names, email addresses, or contact details — unless you choose to email us, in which case we only have what you send
• No comments, uploads, or user submissions
• No payment or financial information
• No precise location data
• No cross-site tracking or advertising profiles

This site stores two kinds of thing in your browser. Neither is used to track you across other websites.

Essential — no consent required

• Your cookie choice. When you press Accept or Decline, that decision is saved in your browser's local storage (almanac.analytics-consent) so we don't ask again on every page.
• Equipment planner state. If you use the planner, your selected gear is saved in your browser's local storage so your build survives a refresh. This never leaves your device — it is not transmitted to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it. Clearing your browser data deletes it.

These are exempt from consent requirements because they only store a preference you set yourself, and the site cannot function as intended without them.

Non-essential — consent required

• Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*), which distinguish one visitor from another and expire after two years.

Analytics is off by default. The site loads Google's script with every consent signal set to denied, which means no analytics cookies are written and no data is sent until you choose Accept. If you press Decline, or simply never answer, the script stays inert for your entire visit.

Changing your mind

Clearing this site's data in your browser settings resets the choice, and the banner will appear again on your next visit. You can also block cookies entirely in your browser — the wiki works exactly the same either way.

• Analytics — to see which pages get used so effort goes to the pages people actually read. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you may withdraw at any time.
• Hosting and security logs — to deliver pages and defend against attacks. Legal basis: legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in running a working, secure website.
• Email you send us — to reply to you. Legal basis: legitimate interests in answering correspondence.

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not build advertising profiles.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. The only third parties that receive any data are the service providers needed to run the site:

• Google (Google Analytics 4) — analytics. Only with your consent. Google's privacy policy (opens in new tab)
• Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, and security for every request. Cloudflare's privacy policy (opens in new tab)

That is the complete list. If it ever grows — an advertising partner, for example — this page will be updated to name the new provider before it goes live, and the "last updated" date above will change.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, such as in response to a valid legal request.

A note on the live game statistics

The player counts in the footer come from public Roblox endpoints. That request is made by our server, not by your browser — Roblox receives nothing about you, no data about you is sent to them, and your visit is not linked to the game in any way.

We do not use visitor data to train artificial intelligence or large language models, and we do not share visitor data with any AI provider for that purpose or any other. No AI system processes your personal information on this site, and no decisions about you are made by one.

AI tools are sometimes used behind the scenes as an authoring and engineering aid — the same way a spellchecker or a code editor is. That involves no visitor data whatsoever. Factual game data on this site is extracted from structured sources and checked against the game itself, not generated.

• Analytics data — retained by Google for 14 months, then automatically deleted. We keep no separate copy.
• Hosting and security logs — retained by Cloudflare on their standard schedule, typically days rather than months.
• Local storage on your device — kept until you clear your browser data. We have no ability to read or delete it.
• Email correspondence — kept only as long as needed to deal with your message, then deleted.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data; to object to or restrict its processing; and to withdraw consent at any time. In practice, because we hold no accounts and no identifying information, there is usually nothing on our side to retrieve or erase — the fastest way to remove everything is to clear this site's data in your browser, which deletes the analytics identifier and your local settings together.

If you'd like to exercise a right, or you're not sure what applies to you, email us and we'll help. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Prospecting! is played by a young audience, and we assume some readers of this site are under 13. The site is built accordingly:

• We never knowingly collect personal information from children. There are no accounts, no forms, no comments, and no uploads, so there is no route by which a child could submit personal details to us.
• No behavioural advertising. The site does not profile visitors or serve targeted ads.
• No analytics without consent, for any visitor.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us — most likely by emailing us directly — contact us and we will delete it promptly.

If the site's data practices change — a new analytics tool, an advertising partner, anything that touches visitor data — this page is updated before the change goes live, and the date at the top changes with it. There is no mailing list to notify, so that date is the honest signal.
